Streptochaeta är ett släkte i familjen gräs och består av cirka 3 arter. Släktet har sitt naturliga utbredningsområde i Mexiko, Centralamerika, Västindien, norra Sydamerika, västra Sydamerika, Brasilien och södra Sydamerika.
Streptochaeta innehåller arter som är tuvbildande, utvecklar korta rhizomer, är fleråriga örter som har lansettformade blad. Bladen utvecklas både vid basen och utmed strået och blir från 5 till 95 millimeter breda. Plantan utvecklar ett ledat strå som blir från 35 till 105 centimeter långt. Strået är ihåligt och i änden av strået utvecklas en blomställning. Blommorna sitter i småax som i sin tur har en blomställning likt en vippa.

Systematik
Det vetenskapliga namnet Streptochaeta fick släktet av Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck i publikationen Flora Brasiliensis, seu, Enumeratio plantarum in Brasilia Vol. 2 när den gavs ut 1829. Typart för släktet är Streptochaeta spicata.
