Thyridachne är ett monotypiskt släkte i familjen gräs och består av endast en art. Släktet har sitt naturliga utbredningsområde i västcentrala tropiska Afrika.

Thyridachne innehåller arter som är tuvbildande, ettåriga örter som har linjära blad. Bladen utvecklas både vid basen och utmed strået och blir från 5 till 8 millimeter breda. Plantan utvecklar ett ledat strå som blir från 15 till 50 centimeter långt. Strået är ihåligt och i änden av strået utvecklas en blomställning. Blommorna sitter i småax som i sin tur har en blomställning likt en vippa.

Systematik

Det vetenskapliga namnet Thyridachne fick släktet av Charles Edward Hubbard i publikationen Kew Bulletin Vol.4 när den gavs ut 1949. Typart för släktet är Thyridachne tisserantii.
