Kamferörtsläktet omfattar ungefär 70 arter i familjen asterväxter. Växterna i släktet är ett- till fleråriga örter där några har pålrot. Växterna är ofta håriga och aromatiska. Blomhuvudena sitter ensamma eller några få tillsammans. Strålblommorna är gula till orange eller saknas. Det ursprungliga utbredningsområdet är i Nordamerika och Centralamerika. Släktet har även naturaliserats i andra områden i världen. Några arter odlas som prydnadsväxter.
